Abstract

The safety literature generally agrees on the effective role of safety-specific leadership in promoting occupational safety; however, most existing studies are limited to Western or American contexts. The current study seeks to address this gap by examining the effectiveness of safety-specific leadership in the Pakistani context. Data were collected from 163 workers in the manufacturing industry. The results confirmed that safety-specific leadership strengthens employees’ safety climate perceptions, which in turn negatively affects occupational injuries. Practical implications, limitations of the study, and directions for future research are also discussed
