A total of 158 participants from private and public universities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi were approached. All information was collected through informed consent, following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were gathered using three instruments: the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence scale, the 10-item short version of the Counterproductive Work Behavior scale, and the Machiavellian Personality Scale to assess Machiavellian tendencies. The results indicate that emotional intelligence has a significant impact on both Machiavellianism and counterproductive work behavior among university teachers. The study recommends qualitative analysis to further explore the relationships among the study variables.
